But…Can Crystals Really Heal? Seriously?

Years ago, I worked as a professional psychic out of a crystal shop here in Sedona. I loved playing with the pretty, sparkly crystals…but could crystals heal people as some folks were saying? NAH, sparkly rocks couldn’t heal people!  LOL Well maybe in the hands of Laurelle Gaia – Reiki Crystal Healing Practitioner and Teacher.

I had collected rocks since I was an intrepid little adventurer in the fields and hills of Southwest Michigan.  Our three acres abutted an old Native American camp — probably Potawatomi — flints and arrowheads were scattered around.  The boys in the neighborhood loved the arrowheads; I was more interested in the pretty rocks and flints. They spoke to me even then. 

One day, I was in the crystal shop behind the sales counter, when David Singing Bear — a Cherokee Holy Man — came in.  He seemed beloved by the staff – but I didn’t think he liked me.  He never engaged with me and just seemed to scowl my way.  Well, this portentous day, he walked right up to me and, with a raspy voice, said, “My guides said I should ask you for a Reiki session.”

Oh boy, I was a fairly new Reiki practitioner, and I knew that David Singing Bear was a renowned healer.  I can’t believe I didn’t tell him I had another appointment, or I had to leave or made up something on the spot.  Whew.

Holy Moses – he wants me to do Reiki for him? – OMG! WTH? Okay, I can do this!

I took him over to the Reiki session room, only for some “reason” my normal room wasn’t available. Hmm.  Singing Bear had an upper respiratory infection, hence the raspy voice.  Nervously, I began the Reiki treatment, yet I quickly calmed down. Beaming Reiki energy always soothes me too, and this day was no different; I easily slipped into my trance state.

As the session progressed, I had my hands near his throat chakra when I clearly heard a voice say, “Put that green calcite on his chest”.  What the hell? I’m not usually clairaudient, so when I heard that voice loud and clear telling me to put green calcite on his chest, I almost jumped out of my skin. Fortunately, I stayed grounded.

Huh look at that, there are three pieces of green calcite on the windowsill. I quickly grabbed the calcite and gently laid it on his chest. Hmm, does this mean I’m going to do reiki crystal healing now?

But the guides weren’t done with me yet; the strangeness was just beginning! I couldn’t believe my eyes as what looked like spiraling grayish-smoky energy came out of his chest.  He coughed a bit, and so did I. First, I heard a voice, now I’m seeing things!  Who is this man, and what is going on? I knew whatever was happening; it was quite profound. I felt out of my body in a trance-like state yet following this spiritual guidance. I continued with the reiki crystal healing as I allowed all these new experiences to flow through and with me.

After I ended the session, I eased Singing Bear back to his physical body and checked to see how he was feeling. He said he felt much better, like the respiratory infection had eased and lifted. David shot me an odd look when I said, “I hope it didn’t freak you out that I laid crystals on your chest.”    Then, in his deep Bear voice, he replied, “I’ve been using crystals since I was about four or five years old, don’t you use crystals in your reiki sessions?”

Knowing that I worked out of one of the premier crystal shops in Sedona and that Laurelle taught Reiki Crystal Healing, I rather ashamedly stated. “Not until today”.

Fortunately, that began a beautiful friendship and the beginning of my education in using crystals and minerals as healing tools. David Singing Bear was a wise and loving teacher, and I also became a Reiki Crystal Healing Practitioner under the tutelage of Reiki Master Teacher – Laurelle Shanti Gaia. I was blessed to have these two masters as mentors.

Crystals and minerals not only amplify the healing energy of Reiki but as you will see can also be used for very specific healings.  The more you use them, the more practice you have, the more comfortable you become, not only will you love them, but they will also respond with you in a deeper more profound way.  You will also feel their energy!  You may resonate with certain crystals more than others, or their energy will match yours more.  And some crystals may not be yours to use. Many of my friends love Moldavite, but it spins me out of my body, I simply can’t tolerate it. 

Icy Cold Crystals – OH NO!

Many years ago, a friend stayed with me for a few months in my home, as a parting gift, he gave me an extraordinarily large quartz crystal.  It was quite powerful, yet every time I held it, it was icy cold.  Normally, when we hold a crystal that resonates with our energy, it will get warm, and if it’s doing healing work for us, it may get hot. 

Every time I held this particular quartz crystal – it went icy cold!  I knew this crystal was not meant to be with me.  When my friend came back to visit, I asked him if he had checked with the crystal or even his guides if the crystal was okay with being gifted to me.  He looked at me oddly, chuckled a little, and answered “No”.  

I told him about the icy cold I felt when I held it and encouraged him to hold the crystal for a minute. 

The crystal became very warm as he held it – it was still meant to be with him!  Happily, I gave it back to him and encouraged him to continue working with its energy. 

If I’m purchasing a crystal or mineral or just picking up a rock while out hiking I always ask if it wants to work with me. I’m clairsentient and will feel the energy of it and can tell if it’s a yes or no.  You may need to test with a pendulum, or muscle test for your answer. 

Crystals have been used for centuries for healing and amplifying one’s energy work.  Shamans and crystal healers know the ability of crystals to focus healing energy, light vibrations, and sound.  Crystals may energize, calm, heal emotional or physical issues, ease grief, enhance intuition, assist in communication, the list goes on and on.   Crystals are polished and formed into sculpture and singing bowls and used to enhance water and juices. 

If a crystal breaks, I put the pieces in the soil of my potted plants. I swear those plants grow faster and stronger than others without crystal shards.   

I encourage you to start with some common crystals in your practice; clear quartz is a master healer and will amplify all other crystals, selenite opens the way to the higher chakras, citrine for abundance, amethyst aids in addiction recovery, etc. See below for more information.

So, the answer to the question, Do Crystals Really Heal? Yes, I’m a Believer! Crystals and minerals amplify and focus our energy, aligning the healing with the specific area it’s needed. I have proof over and over again as I use my tools, especially with people who are sensitive to energy. After a session is over, they will tell me they felt the energy flowing. I have a Golden Healer crystal – which is great for releasing cellular trauma – that I place in the right hand of clients. It is cool when placed in the client’s hand and when it finishes its powerful work, it is typically very warm.

Now when I’m booked for a general Reiki session – that would be a session that did not include crystals – I can hardly stop myself from including some crystals. I know the benefits and outcomes will be so much stronger!
